General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems, Scranton Operations (formerly Chamberlain Manufacturing Corporation) has been operating the Scranton Army Ammunition Plant, Scranton, PA, since 1963. During that time the company has manufactured more than 24 million products, primarily projectile metal parts for the U.S. Government.
Recent changes in requirements and regulations have made this state-of-the-art manufacturing facility available to the commercial market sector. The skills required for the forging, heat treatment, machining, testing and painting of metal parts have been preserved at this plant thanks to its history of high production rates. Since the early 1960’s the company has continually upgraded and expanded all of its manufacturing technology. And the productivity of the work force has been continuously improved through training and capital improvements.
Scranton is a fully integrated manufacturer of metal parts. Every step of the production process takes place within our 500,000 square foot facility. We take pride in our ability to control every item we manufacture, working with our customers providing guidelines on specifications for steel, and forging and machining procedures and techniques. Scranton is involved with our customers from prototype development to finished product.
We have been ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004 certified by the British Standards Institute. We also have received the American Petroleum Institute (API) certification.
